PanAway Essential Oil Blend

PanAway is an essential oil blend formulated by Young Living. It was blended to provide support your nervous and musculoskeletal systems. It boosts energy, promotes healing, soothes the skin, and is the perfect companion for post-workouts or after a long day working while standing.

What is in PanAway

PanAway is a blend comprised of wintergreen, helichrysum, clove, and peppermint. It's the ideal essential oil blend for sore muscles, aches, and pains.

Wintergreen

Wintergreen specifically supports the musculoskeletal system. It is energizing, stimulating, and is soothing to a wide variety of aches and pains. (Learn more about wintergreen here)

Helichrysum

Helichrysum supports the cardiovascular and musculoskeletal systems. It is incredible for soothing pains and muscle spasms and smells beautifully uplifting.

Clove

Clove helps support the cardiovascular, nervous, respiratory, digestive, and immune systems. It is also a fantastic addition to oral hygiene routines and is used as a numbing agent in the dental industry. Clove is mentally stimulating and magnifies a sense of protection and courage. (Learn more about clove here)

Peppermint

Peppermint supports the nervous, respiratory, digestive, and musculoskeletal systems. It is incredible to apply to sore muscles! Peppermint decreases occasional tension headaches and helps increase focus and energy. It also offers a cooling sensation when applied topically. (Learn more about peppermint here)

How to use PanAway:

  • Make a cream to help with aches and pains
  • Invigorate your morning wake-up routine by diluting PanAway (one drop per ml of carrier oil) and applying it to your chest and the back of your neck.
  • Add PanAway essential oil blend to your favorite lotion or body butter recipe
  • Dilute and apply to sore muscles after a workout
  • Diffuse or drop a few drops onto a cotton ball or wooden clothespins and place on your car vents for a great scent that invigorates the senses.
  • Apply (diluted) to bumps, bruises, muscle spasms, or sore, tired feet.
  • Root Beer Diffuser Blend: 4 drops each of PanAway and Stress Away essential oil blends
  • Head Tension Roller: 5 drops each PanAway, Peppermint, and Lavender oils in a 10-15ml roller bottle, filled the rest of the way with your favorite carrier oil (we love sweet almond).
  • Add 4 drops each of PanAway and Lavender essential oils to a cup of Epsom salts for a relaxing bath

** Please note, if you have epilepsy, you should avoid this oil blend (and any blend containing wintergreen).

** Also make sure if you use PanAway topically that you dilute it first. I recommend diluting one drop of essential oil per ml of carrier oil.

Make your own PanAway essential oil blend roller bottle by adding 1 drop of PanAway per ml of carrier oil into an empty essential oil bottle, and top it with a roller top.

A carrier oil can be any cold-pressed, seed-based oil (ideally organic and unrefined). This includes most cooking oil, like coconut oil, avocado oil, and olive oil. Personally, we LOVE using sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil, and the V6 Carrier oil (made by Young Living). This is the best way to dilute your essential oils for topical use.

Need empty bottles? You can order them from any bottle supply shop that offers essential oil bottles or even off Amazon. Personally, we save our old essential oil bottles, remove the labels, and reuse the bottles with a roller fitment. On occasion, we indulge in a YL branded roller bottle (they're so pretty). To reuse your bottles, ensure they are clean by soaking the empty bottle disassembled in boiling water for at least 15 minutes. Then let dry. Need a fun roller bottle?

Generally no. Because of the wintergreen and peppermint in PanAway, I typically do not recommend it for pregnant women.

If you're using oils while pregnant, I highly recommend this reference guide. It contains some great advice for using essential oils while pregnant, plus some DIY Recipes you'll love too.

Is PanAway essential oil safe for kids and babies?

Generally, no. I do not recommend the PanAway essential oil blend to be used on kids under 12.

Can you be allergic to PanAway essential oil?

There are a few reasons why you would experience an allergy-like reaction to essential oils. Usually, this is caused by not diluting the oil you're applying (or not diluting it enough). Please refer to our essential oils and allergies article for more in-depth information.

Is PanAway essential oil safe for dogs and cats?

PanAway essential oil is safe to use with your dogs in greater dilution. It is NOT generally regarded as safe to use around cats because of the wintergreen.

If you're using essential oils around your family pets, be sure to allow them access out of the room and into a room where you're not diffusing. This way they're able to escape when they feel they've had enough. Please also consider picking up a reference guide specific to using essential oils with animals.

Should you use PanAway essential oil if you're taking medication?

This is a very personal question, and really depends on which medications you're taking. I have an entire article dedicated to known medication contraindications that I highly recommend you check out… in addition to having a lengthy conversation with your local aromatherapist or pharmacist.

How often should you use PanAway essential oil?

This is also a personal question. This depends on what you're using it for and how experienced you are using it. For beginners, I recommend only diffusing for 30 minutes at a time, then giving your body an hour break. If you diffuse too much, you could end up lightheaded. Personally, I have a diffuser running most of the day intermittently (using the intermittent setting on our diffuser). Or I'll wear a piece of diffusing jewelry with 3 drops of oil on it throughout the day (those 3 drops usually last a few days). Check out our article about diffusing essential oils safely for more info.

Can you diffuse PanAway essential oil blend?

Yes! You can. Personally, I enjoy diffusing other oils like RC and Raven blends more than PanAway, but you can diffuse it if you would like to. Or wear it in diffusing jewelry if you're on the go or can't keep a diffuser with you all day.

I personally LOVE wearing diffuser necklaces and occasionally wear diffusing bracelets. You can find my favorite beautiful diffusing jewelry mentioned in our guide to diffusing jewelry.

What is doTERRA's equivalent essential oil blend to PanAway?

Where to Buy High-Quality Essential Oils

Don't be fooled into purchasing substandard, fake, or counterfeit essential oils using clever marketing and loose labeling laws. Be sure you know about the 10 Dirty Little Secrets of the essential oil industry so you can make the best choice for your needs for in-depth information about why quality matters, how not to be fooled, and what to look for

Warning: DO NOT purchase your oils through Amazon, eBay, Walmart, or similar websites with 3rd party sellers! Many of those oils are counterfeit and may cause health ailments, skin reactions, headaches, and a lot of misery. Most reputable essential oil brands do not allow their oils to be purchased there, so when you do find them (even if the seller appears to be legitimate), they're often fake.

If you're ready to start your essential oil journey, this is our favorite place to purchase from because of their transparency and dedication to doing what is right for their customers and not compromising on their integrity to provide industry-setting quality standards throughout all their products.
