Oil cleansing has many therapeutic benefits for your skin. It helps moisturize, protect, reduce free-radical damage, and reduce acne. Women worldwide are replacing their facial cleansers and soaps with the more gentle alternative: oil cleansing face cream.
This DIY blue tansy cleansing face cream features the antioxidant benefits of blue tansy and frankincense essential oils.
Your homemade blue tansy oil cleansing face cream will surely impress anyone you gift it to, whether it's for Grandparent's Day, Mother's Day, graduation, Christmas, birthdays, or any other gift-giving occasion. Just be sure to make some extra for yourself, because you won't want to share it!
Benefits of Using Blue Tansy Oil Cleansing Face Cream
Using a homemade blue tansy cleansing cream means you have full control over which skin-loving ingredients you use on your skin, and avoid any harmful chemicals found in typical skincare products.
The recipe below calls for shea butter, jojoba oil, castor oil, olive-derived emulsifying wax (or beeswax), vitamin E oil, blue tansy essential oil, and frankincense essential oil. Each of these ingredients is known to be supportive to sensitive skin, hydrating to dry skin, anti-aging, and soothing to stressed skin.
Shea butter isn't my typical go-to for skincare products. I typically like using mango butter instead because of the sweeter and milder smell, but with it being yellow mixed with blue tansy, the cleansing oil would turn green. Shea butter is massively moisturizing, perfect for dry skin. It also reduces blemishes, soothes irritated skin, and has antioxidant properties that help fight free radicals and provide anti-aging benefits.
Jojoba's skin-loving benefits include moisturizing dry skin, cleansing, and soothes sunburns.
Castor oil benefits include reducing wrinkles, healing acne, decreasing puffiness, moisturizing dry skin, soothing sunburns, and supporting stressed skin.
Oil-derived emulsifying wax is a processed oil that essentially acts as a glue to hold together the rest of the ingredients. Beeswax is a great alternative if you don't have access to the organic oil-derived emulsifying wax. Beeswax is a natural humectant that provides moisturizing benefits to your skin. It also provides the most gentle exfoliation, giving your skin a light glow.
Vitamin E oil is well known for its antioxidant content that fights free radicals and provides anti-aging benefits. It also moisturizes your skin, improves fine lines, reduces itchy irritation, and soothes sun stressed skin.
Blue tansy essential oil provides many skin health benefits, making it an ideal addition to skincare products. In fact, blue tansy essential oil is also known as “the best skin care ingredient you never knew you needed.” It soothes stressed skin, improves acne and blemish appearances, soothes irritated skin, supports sun-stressed skin, and provides potent antioxidant benefits as well.
Frankincense essential oil has many skin-loving benefits. It has anti-aging and natural astringent properties. It strengthens your skin and improves its tone and elasticity. Frankincense also provides natural cleansing mechanisms that help clean your skin, diminish blemishes, and may even improve hyperpigmentation issues.
Blue Tansy Cleansing Cream Directions
Blue Tansy Oil Cleansing Face Cream Ingredients

- 1/4 teaspoon vitamin E oil
- 20 drops of blue tansy essential oil
- 10 drops of frankincense essential oil
Blue Tansy Oil Cleansing Face Cream Instructions

- Gently heat your pan on the stove over medium-low heat until the mixture is melted.
- Remove the melted oil and butter from the heat.
- Stir in the essential oils you choose to use.
- Allow the mixture to cool until it solidifies, either on the counter or in the refrigerator.
- To produce a smoother, lighter texture, blend the cream with a hand mixer (optional).
- Place your cleansing cream into a small glass jar, and store it at room temperature.
How To Use Your Blue Tansy Oil Cleansing Cream
Apply a dime-sized amount of your Blue Tansy Cleansing Cream to your palms or a facial cleansing brush and gently rub over your dry face. Gently massage the oil into your skin. Allow the cream to stay on your face for a few minutes (great to use when taking a bath or shower). When ready to remove it, use a dry or damp washcloth to wipe it away gently.
To use as a makeup remover, add a dime-size amount to a cotton pad or tissue to wipe away eye makeup.
After your face is clean, you may follow by applying your favorite facial toner and moisturizer, but many women find they don’t need it.
