Each chakra is an energy center that, just like any other area of your body, needs attention and support to maintain feeling balanced and fully functional.
The sacral chakra is the water element in the body that promotes creativity, sexuality, and inner joy. It controls your intuitive connection, and ability to accept others and new experiences. This chakra is the center of our creativity and sexuality and is responsible for our creative expression.
The sacral chakra is located about two inches below your belly button, and two inches in.
When it is in balance you tend to feel a sense of abundance, enjoy an overall sense of wellbeing, pursue creative projects, indulge in life's flow, and enjoy a healthy sexual relationship with yourself and your partner. This is also the center of strong intuition.
Excessive sacral chakra leads to excessive sexuality and an inability to get real work done because we are constantly pursuing new creative things. Too little of the sacral chakra and we lean towards frigidity in both sexuality and personality.
The color associated with this Chakra is Orange.
One of my favorite ways to help keep our chakras in balance is using essential oils. Why? Chakras are essentially energy centers in your body, and essential oils carry specific energetic frequencies. When you look at your body on an energetic level, these frequencies tune in with each other to achieve an energetic balance.

How to use essential oils for opening your sacral chakra
To use essential oils for your sacral chakra, you may diffuse or dilute and apply your oils topically to your skin. I recommend applying over your lower abdomen area over the sacral chakra point, and on the arches of your feet.
I personally LOVE wearing diffuser necklaces and occasionally wear diffusing bracelets. You can find my favorite beautiful diffusing jewelry at Drops of Joy. Or check out our guide to diffusing jewelry.
While using your oils to help open your sacral chakra, take some time to meditate or focus on a few affirmations, such as:
I deserve to enjoy my life, to feel loved, and to feel creative.
It also helps to make the affirmation more personal by replacing “I” with your first name, or to speak it to yourself while making eye contact with your reflection.
