Thieves Spray is safe to use on most non-porous surfaces. This includes stainless steel, tile, glass, varnished wood surfaces,…etc.
Where you shouldn't use Thieves Spray
Surfaces such as granite and marble are not always non-porous and should be tested in an inconspicuous area first.
We recommend not using Thieves Spray on vinyl or soft plastic.
Thieves Spray is not recommended to be used on or in the body. It was created to clean surfaces such as kitchen counters, public seating, door handles, etc. For cleaning skin with the benefits of Thieves, we recommend using Thieves Cleansing Soap, Thieves Foaming Hand Soap, or DIYing your own Thieves Spray (recipe below).
Thieves Spray Ingredients:
- Alcohol denat – Also known as denatured alcohol. In cosmetics, it can function as an antifoaming agent, solvent, and viscosity-decreasing agent. You can read more about this ingredient HERE.
- Water
- Caprylic/capric triglyceride – A mixed triester derived from coconut oil and glycerin. It comes as an oily liquid and is sometimes mistakenly referred to as fractionated coconut oil. Functions: Caprylic mainly works as an emollient, dispersing agent, and solvent.
- Eugenia caryophyllus (Clove) bud oil
- Citrus limon (Lemon) peel oil
- Cinnamomum zeylanicum (Cinnamon) bark oil
- Eucalyptus radiata (eucalyptus) leaf oil
- Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary) leaf oil
- Lecithin – has emulsification and lubricant properties, is a surfactant, and is an excellent dispersing agent. This product is not indicated for ingestion, but it is consumable, so it is well-tolerated and non-toxic.
- Quillaja saponaria (soapbark) wood extract
DIY Thieves Spray Recipe
- 2 oz glass spray bottle
- Water
- Witch Hazel (unscented)
- Pinch of salt (we use extra-fine Himalayan pink salt)
- 1 oz of Aloe Vera Gel (make your own aloe gel here)
- 15 drops of Thieves Essential Oil (or make your own Thieves oil here)
In your spray bottle, add in your pinch of salt, a dash of witch hazel (roughly a tsp), and 15 drops of Thieves essential oil blend. Then fill the rest of the way with water. Shake and spray.
